"The perfume I am offering you today is a
A new version that retains the classic French style, but is clearer, more recognizable and more subtle in what in the past made the materials proud; the flowers, the forests, it is more than a concept.

Jean Claude Ellena. September 2018
Jean-Claude Ellena is one of the most renowned perfumers of our century. He began his professional life at the age of 16 at the factory of an essential oil manufacturer, Antoine Chiris, in Grasse, where he completed his apprenticeship. In 1968, he became the first student at the newly founded perfumery school of Givaudan, one of the oldest perfume houses in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1983, he became head perfumer for Roure-Givaudan and subsequently worked at Haarmann & Reimer in Paris. In 1990, he became one of the founding members of the Osmothèque, an international fragrance archive based in Versailles. From 2004 to 2016, he served as Hermès' exclusive in-house perfumer, appointed by Jean-Louis Dumas Hermès, a member of the Hermès family and head of the company. Before joining Hermès, he created fragrances for several major perfume houses, including Bulgari and Frederic Malle. Jean-Claude Ellena was heavily influenced by Edmond Roudnitska, one of the most celebrated perfumers of the last century. With Jean-Claude Ellena, a masterpiece of Houbigant fragrances, Essence Rare , was relaunched.
