Helvetolide® is part of the younger generation of synthetic musk (the first was developed in 1888). Prized for its delicious peach note, Helvetolide® is reminiscent of Ambrette, a plant musk derived from hibiscus seeds. It was patented in 1991 by the Swiss company Firmenich. Hence the name, derived from Helvetia, the Latin name for Switzerland. THE FRAGRANCE: Weightless Musk. Helvetolide® offers a long-lasting fragrance that develops gently – the feeling of being in another world: weightless and ethereal. Frank Voelk doesn't use Helvetolide® in its classic form to emphasize other fragrance notes, but rather amplifies its own ethereal character in a futuristic composition that evokes a scent of lightness. A comet of pink pepper adds fruitiness, while cool metallic iris underscores its "elective affinity" to Ambrette (which has a facet of iris). A touch of vanilla, tonka bean, and ambergris further underscores its sensuality. "Adr_ett" is an archaic German word meaning well-groomed, orderly, and elegant. In this spartan and minimalist fragrance, every single element is essential—as if it were in outer space.
