Essential oil from blood oranges was never particularly prized in perfumery. But then paths crossed with Capua, the symbol of Italian excellence in citrus fruit production since 1880, and everything changed. The Capua family, as passionate about perfume as Perris, developed a two-stage extraction process. First, the essential oil is extracted from the peel, browned, and concentrated; next, the whole fruits, when fully ripe, are pressed, passed through a sfumatorchio extractor, and centrifuged to separate the essential oil from the juice. Thus, Arancia di Sicilia was born: the sublimation of a symbolic fruit, capturing the sunshine, colors, and scents of the island on a spring morning.
